A spry sixty plus year old is one of the most experienced guides around. He has been a full certified UIAGM mountain and ski guide since 1971 and has worked in the heliski industry in Canada since 1972. He was also the head of the local Search and Rescue in Austria for over 15 years. Six of those years he held the position of the head training instructor for Search and Rescue in the province of Salzburg. In Steiner's successful career he has climbed all sixty-three peaks of over 4,000 meters in the Alps. Truly a man of the mountains!
He has been active for 19 years as Heliskiguide and 13 years as Lead Guide. His hobbies are biking, fishing and beekeeping.
A certified ski instructor and ski guide since 1996. For many years he was a back country tour guide in the Arlberg region of Austria. From 1991 to 1994 he worked in the outdoor industry in British Columbia, Canada and Alaska. During the summer Josef works in Austria, constructing avalanche barriers and on hill safety structures. Josefhas been with KHS since 2004.
His hobbies are mountain biking, climbing, kayaking and motorcycles.
His whole life is dedicated to sports and travels. He is an experienced outdoor enthusiast who loves to share his knowledge, gained from competitions world wide as well as from his own projects,with his partners and clients. As a professional mountain guide, ski and snowboard instructor, rafting and canyoning guide, tandem pilot, mountainbike instructor and trainer/guide he spends 365 days a year in nature and in the mountains. He has been a UIAGM certified mountain guide and a certified ski instructor and ski guide since 1997. Michael had been working in the Freeride industry in Obertauern and Chamonix for over a decade when he changed careers and became the Atomic product manager for bindings. The time had come for the trained bank clerk to listen to the call of the mountains once again and he started guiding with KHS in 2005.
His hobbies include biking, trekking and mountaineering.
Marc has been a Level 4 ski instructor and a level 3 snowboard instructor since 2000. He is a certified heliski guide and speaks fluent French and English. Mark is a biologist and works in the summer as a Landscaping Manager. He lives in Whitehorse/Yukon and has been with KHS since 2004.
His hobbies are all kinds of outdoor activities, mountain biking and fishing.
Herbert has been involved with winter tourism for 17 years. During this time he became a certified ski and snowboard instructor and guide. He is also an instructor at the Association for Professional Ski and Snowboard instructors in Salzburg, Austria. For five years Herbert worked as a ski and snowboard instructor and guide in the USA. During some of the winter seasons he also worked in the areas of freeriding and park skiing constructing parks and organising events.
He loves nature and his favourite activities are freeriding, fly-fishing and motorcycling.
Leo is a certified CSGA guide and has been with KHS since 1994. He has an excellent knowledge of the area and is responsible for the GIS (digital topographic maps) mapping. Leo works for KHS year round and is responsivble for all matters of the company.
His hobbies include cycling, mountaineering and diving.
